“You’re here,” she says, nodding a little and then smiling at him. He asks her to sit so she does, twisting her hair in her hands nervously as she comes around the coffee table to sit down next to him, her knee touching his as she twists a little to face him.

“I haven’t kissed anyone since Peter,” she blurts out, heart pounding as she stares at his face. “I never even thought about it and when you tried to kiss me, I just— I kind of freaked out. I should have explained myself or at least not ran out like that. I’m sorry.”
